Obon, Obon, It's Festival Time

Thank you to those who attended our Obon Dance and Carnival, August 1st & 2nd, 2009. The turnout from the community and the neighboring temples and organizations ware terrific! We had a total of 2,000 dancers for both nights, plus all their friends watching and eating and having a good time.

To host such a "party" it takes a huge army of volunteers. A big thank you goes to all of them for their time and effort.

Until next year ...!

What works and what doesn't work. Just because "A" did it, "B" can do it. If "B" can't do the work, get "C". If "C" can't do the work get "D". Maybe "A" was the only the one that could do the work. Unfortunately "A" is not around anymore, but we continue to look for another "A" when we have "B", "C", and "D". I find myself looking for another Rev Ben, Rev Takemoto, or Rev Miura and there they are inside of me.

Rev. Dr. Ken Tanaka at the National Symposium at the 750th National Memorial Service in San Jose at the end of February, did something similar in which he said his life is also part of the lives of the many people who passed before him.

This past Saturday, Bishop Ogui said something similar in that his life is not just his own life, but the lives of others.

An awakened moment...
